He later suggested he would reveal those details in his State of the Union address on Tuesday. According to CNN, Trump made his displeasure with the intelligence team clear on Twitter on January 30, but did not mention Coats by name in his tweets as he did verbally in the closed meeting. "You should know that from being in school", he said.

In a major interview with the New York Times, President Donald Trump claimed that both CIA Director Gina Haspel and Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats groveled before him after he chewed them out for contradicting him during Senate testimony.

Relations between the two leaders have thawed over recent months.

The South Korean official was quoted mentioning a possible talk to settle a peace treaty to formally end the 1950-53 Korean War coming from the US.

A USA negotiator called Thursday on North Korea to provide a detailed account of its weapons to seal a peace deal, saying President Donald Trump was ready to offer a future that includes diplomatic relations and economic aid.

Special Representative Stephen Biegun, who is in charge of day-to-day negotiations with the North, said the declaration will be required to acknowledge complete denuclearization of the regime. "Now there is no missile testing, there is no rocket testing, there is no nuclear testing", he said, adding that the rogue regime had also returned American hostages and the remains of troops killed in the Korean War.

At this point, the two sides still don't even agree on what the term "denuclearization" means, with Biegun saying they need a "detailed", "specific", and "agreed" definition.

In September previous year, an inter-Korean summit was held where North Korea's Kim expressed willingness to close Yongbyon if the United States took the corresponding action.

Coats did note that North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has expressed support for ridding the Korean Peninsula of nuclear weapons and over the past year has not test-fired a nuclear-capable missile or conducted a nuclear test. In May 2018, Trump withdrew the US from that accord, which he called a bad deal that would not stop Iran from going nuclear.

Biegun says he will discuss those "corresponding measures" during his next set of meetings.

"We must reach agreement on expert access and monitoring mechanisms of key sites to worldwide standards, and ultimately ensure the removal or destruction of stockpiles of fissile material, weapons, missiles, launchers and other weapons of mass destruction", Biegun said.

Donald Trump insists that things are going great with North Korea, and that he's very close to getting the country to give up their nuclear ambitions.

Speaking at the Walter H. Shorenstein Asia-Pacific Research Center in California, Biegun covered a vast array of U.S. -DPRK issues in a candid discussion that included the U.S. definition of denuclearization, sanctions, and a will to end to the longstanding U.S. "Progress being made-big difference!"

Trump highlighted the points of contention between him and the intelligence community, he stressed that the US has made progress in respect to ISIS, North Korea, and talks in Afghanistan. Experts say Mr Kim's overtures are created to lift North Korea's economic sanctions.
