To check out the free-to-play Apex Legends, head on over to the game's landing page and pick your poison: PlayStation 4, Xbox One, or PC.

Apex Legends didn't lack for word-of-mouth buzz on its opening day, with EA Games' entry into the battle royale fray scoring a huge early success as gamers logged on by the literal millions.

It's the fact of being free that has allowed the game to build such a massive audience so quickly, although it also had a remarkably problem-free launch with no major technical issues of any kind.

It's only been out a few days and Apex Legends already has a high profile event on Twitch.

The games publisher has revealed that their Origin PC services that use the Friends list and chat are now suffering issues. We have so much more in store for you this year.

Apex Legends does not have Titans, or the wall-running and double-jumping mobility options that you'd expect from a Titanfall game - after all, there's a reason it doesn't say Titanfall in the title.

As in most battle royale games - and in most shooters - you can revive a fallen ally if you get to them before they die proper.

"We think cross-play and cross-progress is going to be a very important part of our future, and you should anticipate that we'll be doing more in that space", Wilson said.

First place will come away with $8,000 and the players with the most kills in each region will get $7,500. You'll also see them appearing as shafts of light, projected from the ground into the sky (if you're carrying any respawn tags). Twitch will host the Apex Legends events on February 12 and 19, with separate challenges for the North America and EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Africa) regions on both days.

Now, it seems the game's rise to popularity isn't slowing down.
