The USA global will join the Blues in the summer.

However, both the striker and Juventus have since indicated that is not the case and Goal.com claims that the Blues are unlikely to make an approach this winter.

Premier League legend, Alan Shearer, has predicted that Maurizio Sarri's Chelsea will finish this season's Premier League on a top-four position.

Instead, they are prepared to look elsewhere for probable reinforcements with Bournemouth's Callum Wilson and West Ham United's Marko Arnautovic recently propping up their radar.

As previously mentioned, Chelsea's strikers - Álvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud, haven't really made a big impression this season.

Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri has hinted his side need attacking reinforcements after they were held to a 0-0 draw by Southampton.

"I am not in charge of the [transfer] market, of course, so I have to think about the matches I have to play every three days, so I can only say my opinion to the club". We have to try to solve the problem.

"I think he [Sarri] will be quite content at where they are", Shearer said on BBC Radio Five Live. I have to try to improve my players, my team, my offensive phase, or better my offensive phase in the last 20 metres.

The rumour mill was abuzz recently about a possible swap between Gonzalo Higuain and Alvaro Morata, but it seems that that may not happen in the January transfer window.

"My opinion was positive and today [Wednesday] I knew I have that the deal is done but I didn't know anything".
