A video released by Trump through Twitter on November 26 shows the First Lady walking through the newly decorated White House.

The first lady hit the switch to light the tree after her husband did a countdown from 10, urging audience members to join in.

But if Trump thought this year's decorations would escape ridicule, she's wrong.

Bolling applauded the first lady for the "empathy and compassion" she has toward the issue of the opioid crisis.

Mrs. Trump is featured in a new video unveiling the White House Christmas decorations, an annual tradition dating back decades. "I am here to shine the light and to talk about it, and I hope we could end this awful epidemic that is going on in the United States", she said. "In real life, they look even more lovely and you are all very welcome to visit the White House, the people's house", she said in an interview Wednesday.

She did, however, attend, alongside the Donald, the White House Christmas Reception on Tuesday. I think they look fantastic.

"And you are all very welcome to visit the White House, the "people's house".

Last year, rows of branches sprayed white and lit from below were a haunting first sight for anyone fearless enough to tread down the hallway and this year, people are describing the First Lady's bold choice of red trees as similarly nightmarish. At the University, she mentioned she teaches her 12-year-old son Barron about the adverse effects of participating in cyberbullying.

But at a town hall Wednesday at Liberty University, the first lady made clear that all the negativity about the decorations - typically a political no-go zone - did not bother her.

"When I took on opioid abuse as one of the pillars of my initiative 'Be Best, ' I did it with the goal of helping children of all ages".
