That's a 45% improvement over the same period a year ago.

These controllers are created to go with the Nintendo Switch, which is also on sale right now for a very limited time. Other games in the million-dollar list are The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Super Mario Odyssey and Splatoon 2. Their current console, the Switch, drove Nintendo to a weekend that aw them sell $250 million worth of product.

The Switch also became the best-selling Nintendo console in US history over that five-day period, surpassing Nintendo Wii sales.

The Switch has already exceeded its immediate predecessor, the Wii U, in lifetime unit sales. Sure, Nintendo fans are looking forward to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate game, launching on December 7.

And Nintendo's retro consoles have also sold well: The Super Nintendo Entertainment System: Super NES Classic Edition system has sold over 2.5 million units to date, while the Nintendo Entertainment System: NES Classic Edition system has landed at over 2 million units so far.

Super Mario Party surpassed lifetime United States sales of 1 million units, becoming the fastest-selling game in the Mario Party series and the fifth million-selling first-party Switch game in the US.

Nintendo Switch hardware sales grew 115 percent compared to the same period in 2017.

Elsewhere, the SNES Classic surpassed 2.5 million in lifetime sales over the holidays, while the NES Classic eased past the 2 million sales mark.

Whether or not Nintendo's lack of content will eventually cause Switch sales to fall off a cliff remains to be seen, but it's clear that the Switch is still among the most wanted gadgets available this holiday season.
