Donald Trump Insults CNN Reporter in Heated Press Conference

In his first press conference since Republicans lost control of the House of Representatives, President Trump clashed with what he called "a hostile media", including a heated back and forth with CNN reporter Jim Acosta.

"CNN should be ashamed of itself having you working for them", Donald added, after yelling at Jim to put down the mic.

"It's very hard when you have that many retirements", he said. The way you treat Sarah Huckabee is terrible, and the way you treat other people is disgusting. "The way you treat other people is awful!"

NBC News reporter Peter Alexander attempted to defend Acosta when he got the mic, leading Trump to call him "fake news".

Trump said he "never" worries about any record of racist remarks because "I have never used racist remarks". The freedom of the press is protected by the Constitution.

Trump, clearly exasperated, finally walked away from the podium until Acosta sat down.

In response - as captured by C-SPAN - Trump began, "Here we go". "A free press is vital to democracy, and we stand behind Jim Acosta and his fellow journalists everywhere", the statement continued. Many have threatened to use the subpoena power they will gain in January to investigate Trump and administration actions. It's a group of migrants moving toward the border, ' Acosta, CNN's chief White House correspondent, said. You have nationalists. You have globalists. "I'm not a big fan of yours either, to be honest", Trump said.

Alcindor moved on to a different topic.

Widely viewed as a referendum on Mr Trump's presidency, the election results offered a split decision that revealed deep tensions in the American electorate.

Alcindor was asking for Trump's reaction to the sentiment that his pre-election anti-immigration comments emboldened racists and white nationalists, when Trump interrupted, as he had done several times throughout the contentious back-and-forth with members of the media.

Trump mocked Republicans who avoided campaigning with him before congressional elections and who were not elected during their races, referencing a list of candidates by name.

"What do you make of it?" she asked. He said she was rude for interrupting another reporter, although he did briefly answer one of Ryan's questions.
