Authorities retrieved three more suspicious packages Thursday, two addressed to former Vice President Joe Biden in Delaware and one to Oscar-winning actor Robert De Niro in Manhattan, officials said.

At least eight suspicious parcels were intercepted before reaching any intended recipients, including Mr Obama's attorney general, Eric Holder; former CIA Director John Brennan and prominent Democratic Party donor George Soros.

New York City police say a suspicious package was discovered in the Tribeca area of Manhattan in the early hours of Thursday morning. Both were located early Thursday, the Delaware News Journal reported.

Like most of the other packages, the return address was that of Democratic US Rep. The first was addressed to her Washington DC office and intercepted at a congressional mail facility in Maryland, the U.S. Capitol Police confirmed earlier on October 24. In an email to Grub, Nieporent says that "police handled it well" and that the restaurant will be open for lunch and dinner today.

Also Thursday, a suspicious package addressed to former Vice President Joe Biden was found in DE, law enforcement officials said.

X-ray images showed that the package addressed to De Niro contained a device similar to the pipe bombs found in other packages. It was found at a building owned by the actor that housed a restaurant and offices for Tribeca Films.

Law enforcement officials said all the packages were similar: manila envelopes with bubble-wrap interior bearing six stamps and the return address of Wasserman Schultz.

Maxine Waters: One package was sent to the Democratic congresswoman's office in DC and a second package addressed to her was found at a postal facility in Los Angeles.

A suspect package similar to those sent to CNN and senior Democrats has been sent to a NY restaurant owned by the actor Robert De Niro, US media say.

The first package turned up on Monday and was addressed to Soros, the billionaire financier and advocate of liberal, open-border values who is a frequent target of right-wing conspiracy theories.

Police were called at 4:45 a.m. Thursday about the package, which was on the building's seventh floor. Andrew Cuomo called in the National Guard and doubled police presence around mass transit hubs as a precaution.

Democratic Representative Maxine Waters said in a statement on Wednesday that US Capitol Police said that her Washington, DC, office was the target of a suspicious package that was referred to the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

A law enforcement official said the package has similar characteristics to several others that were discovered this week.

FBI Director Christopher Wray said in a statement yesterday his agency would lead a Joint Terrorism Task Force of federal, state and local law enforcement agencies to "continue to work to identity and arrest whosoever is responsible for sending these packages".

The package sent to the Obamas was addressed to their Washington D.C. home.

After initially calling for unity, Trump went on to blame the media for the surge of pipe bombs sent to high-profile Democrats.

"No nation can succeed that tolerates violence", Trump told the audience.
