But with Mega Millions at a U.S. record $1.6 billion, you could say Powerball's potential payout after Saturday's drawing is just a measly $476 million.

While the epic prize is up for grabs in the US, Lottoland UK customers can bet on the outcome of the MegaMillions lottery and potentially win a separate jackpot.

At some point someone is going to win the lottery, aren't they? The next Mega Millions drawing is Tuesday with the jackpot expected to exceed the US record of $1.6 billion.

"Mega Millions has already entered historic territory, but it's truly astounding to think that now the jackpot has reached an all-time world record", Gordon Medenica, lead director of the Mega Millions Group, said in a statement. The next Powerball drawing is Wednesday.

Each Powerball or Mega Millions ticket is $2.

If someone picks the winning six numbers, they can either claim the jackpot in 30 payments over 30 years - the so-called annuity option - or take a reduced amount in a lump sum.

On Saturday a ticket purchased in Knoxville won $2 million dollars by matching all five white numbers drawn just one number shy of the jackpot.

The winning numbers on Saturday were 16, 54, 57, 62, 69, and the Powerball was 23. Fifteen tickets matched five numbers for second-tier prizes of at least $1 million.

It costs $2 to play the game, but the odds of winning the grand prize is one in 302.5 million.
