Google Play Movies & TV Libraries Get Free Upgrade to 4K in Canada

After code hinted at the move, Google is handing out free 4K movie upgrades to past purchases on Google Play Movies & TV. The latest version of the app will alert users which titles have been upgraded, with the ability to filter by 4K content. Although 4K TVs have been around for a while, there's a severe lack of content available online and hopefully; we get more of it as more people get their hands on 4K-ready hardware. As long as the consumers are in the U.S. or Canada, that is.

When Apple unveiled their upgraded 4K Apple TV box, they also introduced a new feature for iTunes content purchases that would automatically give users 4K versions of their movies and TV shows, when available.
