Broncos release Chad Kelly after QB was arrested over the weekend

According to an arrest affidavit, one of the homeowners, a woman, was sitting on a couch just inside the front door while holding her young child when Kelly entered uninvited and sat down next to her, mumbling incoherently.

He made his first court appearance in Arapahoe County on Wednesday.

The man was detained without incident and he identified himself to officers as Kelly.

In this undated photo provided by the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office is Chad Kelly.

He was later found in his auto near the Gothic Theater - where the Broncos' Von Miller was hosting a Halloween party for fellow players - where he was arrested.

Police and court records do not address Kelly's physical state at the time, and there is no mention of testing for alcohol or substance use.

Officers began to search the area after reviewing security video of the front of the house that showed a man wearing dark trousers, a white long-sleeve shirt with a brown vest and a red scarf around his neck.

Kelly, who was the last player picked in the 2016 draft, hasn't attempted a pass in the regular season. He'll find a place in a quarterback-hungry league, as some team will want to see if they can manage Kelly and get something out of him.

Current starter Case Keenum has floundered despite playing in an offense with Emmanuel Sanders, Demaryius Thomas, and high-upside running backs, so Kelly could have even received a chance to start for the Broncos in 2018.

Kelly was arrested on Monday evening and charged with criminal trespassing following Miller's party. He also was arrested after a bar fight in 2014, eventually pleading guilty to a misdemeanour charge of disorderly conduct. He ran onto the field after his brother, Casey Kelly, apparently took a late hit and video shows several coaches restraining him on the field.
