Aretha Franklin Tribute: Ariana Grande Performs 'Natural Woman' on Fallon
Earlier, Grande posted a touching photo on Twitter of herself with the Queen of Soul.
It was written in the stars ... or the lyrics of "Pete Davidson." Grande originally said she was too emotional to sing, as Franklin was one of her heroes. "We weren't even friends".
Whilst appearing on Jimmy Fallon to promote her new album "Sweetener", Ariana Grande admitted she predicted she would marry Pete Davidson from the first time they met on SNL three years ago. So I just called it 'Pete.' It was either going to be that or 'This Is About Pete Davidson.' I was like, 'Why not?
Meanwhile, Davidson shared an anecdote in GQ in which he said he proposed to Grande the first time they met.
She told Jimmy: "I left his writers room and, I'm not a "crushy" person, but I left and said to my tour manager I'm going to marry him'". "My friends used to make fun of me for it ... figured, whatever".
"It's about breathing", Grande joked, before explaining that it was really about anxiety and what it feels like to experience a panic attack. "They were like, 'We're gonna write this song.' I was like, 'Okay, still can't breathe, but we'll write it.' We made this song".
The Tonight Show on Thursday paid its respects to the late Aretha Franklin with a little help from Ariana Grande.
