By using AI, Google hopes Pie will make your phone smarter, simpler, and "more tailored to you". For example, you can type "Lyft" into Google Search and you'll see fare prices for places like Home and Work as well as an ETA for the nearest vehicle to your location. Google also revealed Android Pie is now available for Google Pixel users.

If you hop into the app switcher and then realize you want to exit it, either swipe down from the dock (the shaded area near the bottom) or tap the back button that appears to the left of the home pill.

Android 9.0 is Pie, as Google has now made official.

Android Pie, which was simply known as P, includes a whole host of new AI-powered features that are created to make your phone smarter, and simplify the experience of using it.

Offer actions in apps based on your previous activities - for example, suggest a route to work during your morning commute.

Security was another focus area for Google, which stated that Android 9 "enables industry-leading hardware security capabilities to allow protecting sensitive data like credit card information using a secure, dedicated chip".

A redesigned Quick Settings provides a better way to take and edit screenshots, simplified volume controls, an easier way to manage notifications and more. The Essential Phone was one of the third-party preview devices, which goes to show you how proper use of Project Treble can improve updates. To try them out: ● Make sure you're running Android 9 Pie on your device.

Once you get that email, and hit the link in it, you'll see a Digital Wellbeing entry in the Settings page.

"Android 9 also brings important privacy improvements, such as TLS by default and DNS over TLS to help protect all web communications and keep them private", said Google.

Devices that were enrolled in the Android Beta program will also be getting the Pie update "by the end of this fall".
