That is the word of warning from Leicester boss Claude Puel.

Maguire only joined the Foxes a year ago from Hull City for a fee of £17m, but having shone for Gareth Southgate's England at the World Cup in Russian Federation then he has launched himself on to the world stage as one of the elite defenders in the game, and he could now be on his way to the Red Devils in a monster deal.

That followed an excellent season at the King Power Stadium after a £17m switch from relegated Hull City a year ago as the Midlands club came ninth.

Chelsea have entered the race to sign Manchester United star Anthony Martial, according to the Times (h/t ESPN).

Leicester are reportedly readying a new contract for the towering centre-back to improve his terms to wages in the region of £80,000-a-week having already lost another key player, Riyad Mahrez, this summer to Manchester City for £60m.

Midfielder Nemanja Matic has arrived in the United States to join the squad while goalkeeper David De Gea and new signing Fred are set to link up with their team mates next week.

Many fans had expected Mourinho to move on one or two of them before the interest in Maguire grew with Jones and Smalling the bookies' favourite to leave.

"When we welcome players back from the World Cup, I hope we can give them the opportunity to continue advancing their ambitions and perform in the Premier League".

But time is of the essence for the United manager, adds the paper, which notes that the transfer window closes early this summer - on 9 August - just a few days after Maguire and his England teammates are due back from their summer holidays.
