DeAndre Jordan is (finally) destined for the Mavs, and Twitter didn't disappoint

Jordan is both close friends with Kevin Durant, and a former client of Bob Myers, according to Marc Stein of ESPN.

Case in point: the Golden State Warriors, who aren't looking to stand pat after winning their third National Basketball Association title in four seasons.

DeAndre Jordan #6 of the LA Clippers grabs the rebound against the Golden State Warriors on January 10, 2018 at ORACLE Arena in Oakland, California.

Jordan and the Mavericks can begin free-agency discussions on Saturday at 9:01 p.m. PT and are expected to quickly come to an agreement.

"The Mavericks, in a mutual decision with Dirk Nowitzki, are declining Nowitzki's $5 million team option for next season and plan to hash out a new contract with him in July, according to league sources". The Mavericks reportedly did not want to surrender draft compensation in a trade to acquire Jordan, and the Clippers were reportedly resistant to taking veteran Wes Matthews back in a deal.

It is no secret that Dallas got a huge improvement when they verbally agreed with Jordan this morning. Adding Jordan alongside Dennis Smith Jr. and Yogi Ferrell will hopefully make the team more competitive. Dennis Smith Jr., taken ninth a year ago, has been joined by another player who will begin his National Basketball Association career as a teenager in European standout Luka Doncic.

There is still work to do for the Mavericks, who finished 24-58 last season, to become a playoff contender in the Western Conference. He averaged 12.0 points per game. In the end, Dallas didn't need to send anything to Los Angeles to acquire its man. As a historically bad rebounding team, the Mavs have not had a rebounder like Jordan in many years, maybe ever.
