Witnesses described a man dressed in black firing a gun multiple times, reported The Star.

As many as 9 people have injured, including a child, and the gunamn is dead following a mass shooting in Greektown.

Shots were fired in the area of Danforth and Logan avenues at around 10 p.m.

Paramedics tell CityNews the scene encompasses several blocks and a number of victims have sustained significant injuries.

"We started to hear people scream out front", Steinhauer said, adding that she had been told four to six people had been shot.

Police have confirmed that the shooter is now dead.

Their conditions are unknown but a child is believed to be among the victims.

Some victims are being treated at the scene, while others have been taken to local hospitals.

Police escort civilians away from the scene of the shooting.

Nearby streets have been closed and the Toronto Transit Commision said trains were not stopping in the area.
