VR all the things: Tetris Effect coming to PlayStation 4 and PSVR

The newest version of the long-standing puzzle game will be coming from Tetsuya Mizuguchi, the designer behind puzzle titles Rez Infinite and Luminous. "Tetris Effect", the game, is created to stimulate the same effect with gorgeous visuals.

Today marks the first day of Sony's Countdown to E3 2018 announcements event that sees a new PlayStation-related reveal every day leading up til Monday's Sony E3 2018 Showcase. 4K and 60fps on the PS4 Pro will be available as well.

Includes the all-new "Zone" mechanic, where players can stop time (and Tetriminos falling) by entering "the Zone" and either get out of a sticky situation that could otherwise lead to "Game Over", or rack up extra line clears for bonus rewards. Per the game's official description, it's more or less Tetris as you know it - the insane imagery is mostly just there to enhance immersion and elicit emotions.

The title of the game comes from the real-world phenomenon that occurs when people devote much time and attention to a singular activity it begins to pattern their thoughts and dreams to the activity. Get a look at Tetris Effect in the video above.

Tetris Effect doesn't have an official release date at this time, but it is now slated to launch sometime this Fall.

There's even a new PlayStation 4 Days of Play Limited Edition machine, featuring PlayStation's iconic shapes in a gold design.

The game will come this fall for PS4 with a PlayStation VR mode included, and it will be playable at E3.

The press release did not mention full exclusivity, but not other platforms were mentioned, at least for now.
