Prince Louis to be christened July 9: Palace

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have announced that Prince Louis will be christened on Monday July 9.

Prince Louis, the third child of Britain's Prince William and Kate Middleton, will be baptised on July 9, the Kensington Palace announced today.

Their sister, Charlotte, had her christening at St. Mary Magdalene Church at great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth II's Sandringham estate in Norfolk.

In a sweet moment, Prince William talked about how his involvement in the organization earned him brownie points with his 4-year-old son, Prince George. It is a replica of a christening gown made for Queen Victoria's eldest daughter in 1841 and used for generations of royal babies until it wore out.

It will be a private affair, lasting about half an hour.

The Queen is head of the Church of England and Louis' father William will one day take on this role when he becomes king.

George's christening at the same venue in October 2013 was an intimate occasion, with only 23 guests attending.

It remains unknown who will be selected to be Louis' godparents. It's the quickest christening out of all of the Duke and Duchess' children. If that name sounds extra familiar, it's because he also officiated Prince Harry and Megan Markle's wedding on May 19.
