Harry Kane now top scorer, sets new record against Panama

Again, all of this is getting way ahead of ourselves but England can't afford to do that as their young squad have shown enough defensive lapses in their opening two games to suggest better teams will benefit better than Tunisia and Panama did.

Bournemouth striker Jermain Defoe has taken to social networking site Twitter to send a message to Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane.

Four years ago, England failed to win a match at the World Cup and was eliminated in the group stage.

Kane was brilliant for England against Panama, and the England global will now be confident of winning the World Cup Golden Boot in Russian Federation this summer.

England face Belgium in their final group game on Thursday to decide who will be finishing first and second in Group H. A fluid 3-4-3 formation has allowed England's attacking players to flourish with Kane leading the World Cup in goals with five, but it has also seen their back three left exposed at times with both wing backs encouraged to push on.

Kane was pleased with the manner of victory but cautioned there's still a long way to go if England are to lift the trophy.

TSN soccer analyst Terry Dunfield said he thinks the English side could be primed to break out in a big way Sunday if they can keep the pressure and pace on Panama.

"There´s a lot of good players behind me, hopefully I can take it into Thursday´s game".

'Clinical is what we were asking for and they've done that and they've been fantastic to a man.

England's attacking threat has been in evidence throughout this Russian campaign - it is at the other end where they have yet to be seriously examined.

And significantly, the standard of opposition conducting those examinations will rise from now on.

Do England want to win the group? I have complete trust in all the players.

Substitute Felipe Baloy rewarded them with a consolation goal in the 78th minute, sliding home a free kick that was Panama's first goal in their debut World Cup.
