The main event is positioned on top of arguably the most exciting card of action the UFC have put together this year.

In missing weight for UFC 225, Romero became the first fighter in the organisation's history to come in heavy for more than one title fight as the Cuban wrestler weighed in at 187.7lbs for his interim title fight with Luke Rockhold in February.

Robert Whittaker will have to wait to defend his middleweight title after his bout against Yoel Romero was axed to a non-title fight after the challenger failed to make the weight.

His first attempt was made at 186 pounds, and at his second attempt, he was still.2 pounds over the mark.

He didn't have enough for Mike Jackson (1-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC), though, who earned a unanimous decision victory over Punk and likely ended the UFC tenure of the former pro wrestling standout.

"There wouldn't be a fight", Whittaker said.

UFC main event fights in pay-per-view events have been dropping like flies these past few months and UFC 225 is no different.

"This fight, as far as I'm concerned, I have 25 minutes to try to finish him - and I'm going to use every single second of those minutes to try to achieve that".

However, Whittaker posted to Twitter following the weigh-in, with his message all but confirming his intention to fight Romero. Romero said the commission ended up giving him just one hour, not two, to cut to the weight limit, and he received no explanation for the shortened opportunity.
