Barr claimed that her tweet about former Obama administration official Valerie Jarrett was not racist, and that she was sacked because of fears over a potential boycott of the show's advertisers.

"Roseanne's Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values, and we have made a decision to cancel her show", ABC Entertainment chief Channing Dungey, said in a statement.

Following the public backlash, Barr issued another apology to Jarrett and acknowledged an image she retweeted was fake: "I want to apologize to you".

The disgraced television star returned to retweet her supporters after an hours-long hiatus where she tweeted, "I apologize". I feel so empowered by @iamwandasykes, Channing Dungey and anyone at ABC standing up for morals and abuse of power.

In a second statement she said: "Today my words caused hundreds of hardworking people to lose their jobs".

Jarrett appeared on a MBNBC town hall to discuss "everyday racism". I will handle my sadness the way I want to.

And Barr argued that the cancellation was due to a threatened advertiser boycott and tied to Wanda Sykes' announcement that she was leaving the show.

"I couldn't be more proud of her", Merrin told Sactown Magazine in 2016.

Barr subsequently wrote: "I apologise to Valerie Jarrett and to all Americans".

"It was widely known and meticulously documented that she was a flagrant bigot before @ABC & @Disney rolled out the red carpet for her anyway", he tweeted.

She also said she felt bad for U.S. President Donald Trump because "he goes thru this every single day".

Seems like no one is that sorry to see the back of Rosanne, following her racist tweet on Tuesday. Comparing black people to apes is about as racist as it gets, and the Muslim brotherhood line is just a nonsensical bit of leftover right-wing conspiracy theorizing from the heyday of wild-eyed "THE MOOSLEMS HAVE TAKEN OVER!" You know who I blame for this? Now, ABC has confirmed it's canceling the Roseanne show. She continued asking others not to defend her. Roseanne also responded to adult film star Jenna Jameson's supportive tweet. Roseanne made a choice.

"VALERIE JARRETT STANFORD YEARBOOK: "I Was Born Iranian Of My Islamic Faith, I Seek To Help Change America To Be A More Islamic Country", read one retweet, which included a doctored picture that purported to be Jarrett's yearbook next to the yearbook quote". A racist one. ABC made a choice.
