It is where Kim Jong Un met South Korea's Moon Jae-in last week.

"The New York Times story is utter nonsense".

A full withdrawal of USA troops was unlikely, the officials said, according to the paper.

During the inter-Korean summit, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un expressed his intention to synchronize his country's time zone with Seoul.

President Donald Trump told reporters Friday that he is optimistic North Korea will release three Americans who have been held captive.

But Trump added that "at some point in the future, I'd like to save the money" that it costs to base 30,000 troops on the peninsula, a security arrangement that has been in place since the Korean War armistice in 1953.

In February, ICAO's Asia and Pacific regional office in Bangkok received a letter from North Korea's civil aviation administration asking to establish new air routes between the Pyongyang flight information region (FIR) and South Korea's Incheon FIR.

A North Korean defector, now living in South Korea, prepares to release balloons carrying propaganda leaflets denouncing North Korea's recent nuclear test, near the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) on September 15, 2017.

North Korea's state-run media has reported that the country returned to the same time zone as South Korea on Saturday, ending its own "Pyongyang Time". "We'll be announcing it soon", Trump said as he left the White House on a trip to Texas on Friday.

"We're having very substantive talks with North Korea and a lot of things have already happened with respect to the (US) hostages", he said.

President Donald Trump is expected to meet Kim in the coming weeks. Some 28,500 US forces are based there, a military presence that has been preserved since the Korean War ended in 1953 without a peace treaty.

Preparations for a Trump-Kim meeting have gained momentum since the Korean summit a week ago, which saw Pyongyang and Seoul promise to pursue the complete denuclearization of the peninsula and a permanent peace.
