Lalu Granted 3 Days Parole To attend Son Tej Pratap's Marriage

PATNA: Congress president Rahul Gandhi and his sister Priyanka Vadra are among the dignitaries likely to attend the wedding ceremony of RJD president Lalu Prasad's elder son Tej Pratap Yadav on Saturday, a close aide of the family said on Friday. Lau Prasad Yadav's daughter Miss Bharti has also attended the pre-wedding ceremony with her husband and children. He had initially applied for five-day parole. The RJD leader is undergoing medical treatment at Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) for various illnesses.

"I met Lalu ji, conveyed my best wishes for the marriage of his son Tej Pratap, congratulated him on getting six-week bail and advised him to regularly practise Yoga to maintain good health", Ramdev said after the visit. "His parole has been granted for 3 days and the effective date of parole will be depended upon when jail authorities would release him", IG (Prisons) Harsh Mangla told PTI. He however did not disclose the details of the approval.

It is still not revealed if the travel time is included in the parole or that will be excluded from the set three-day time.

On Wednesday, media reports had claimed that Lalu Yadav's application had been approved. Till now, we have no information about his parole.

Lalu kept a distance from journalists, in adherence to his parole conditions, but guests kept arriving all day. The RJD MLA said that so far they have not received any official letter from the jail administration regarding the parole.

He has been convicted in four fodder scam cases since 2013 - the latest being the Dumka treasury case in which a special Central Bureau of Investigation court sentenced him to 14-year jail term.
