After becoming the quickest movie ever to $1 billion worldwide last weekend and having the second-largest second weekend ever in United States theaters, "Infinity War" won this weekend's box office for a third-straight weekend and has crossed the half-billion figure domestically. Avengers: Infinity War now sits in the #8 spot on the list of all-time domestic box office grossing films after just three weeks in release. With the humungous business of $ 1.60 billion, it has become the fifth highest worldwide grosser of all time surpassing the collections of The Avengers ($ 1.518 billion) and Furious 7 ($ 1.516 billion). The film is set to quickly break the $200 million mark, which puts it on pace to beat Avengers: Age of Ultron, which is now the highest grossing MCU film in China.

It is yet to open in China, one of the world's largest movie markets.

Before you set out to watch Avengers Infinity War, there is one rule you should have known before doing - you need to watch all the 18 MCU movies that came before it.

Infinity War is the 19 film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe which had started off in 2008 when the Robert Downey Jr starrer Iron Man was released.

Infinity was is now the fifth biggest movie of all time behind Jurassic World ($1.671 billion), Star Wars: The Force Awakens ($2.068 billion), Titanic ($2.187 billion), and Avatar ($2.788 billion) and appears to be a safe bet to become only the fourth movie ever to crack the $2 billion mark.

The modestly budgeted "Breaking In" took third place with $16.5 million, overperforming most industry expectations despite lackluster reviews. And rounding out the top five was "A Quiet Place" with $6.4 million.

Among holdovers, MGM and Pantelion Films' remake Overboard placed No. 4 in its second outing with $10.1 million after declining a narrow 31 percent. Released by Warner Bros.' New Line division, the PG-13 title is aimed at getting mothers and daughters to hit theaters during the Mother's Day weekend.

The follow-up, Deadpool 2, is due to be released in the United Kingdom on 16 May.
