Fortnite Port-a-Fort feature arrives tomorrow in version 3.5 update

The Port-a-Fort sounds like the flawless escape button for anyone who doesn't know how to build. Typically, players must harvest resources to use as makeshift structures, but a new item, labeled "coming soon", looks to change all that.

Epic Games showcased the new feature in a video released today, and it turns out we won't have to wait long to get access to it.

When you're under fire in the heat of battle, sometimes you don't have quite enough time to build up a fort to shield yourself.

The new Port-a-Fort offers to instantly drop a "quick defensive position upon impact". You might be able to build some tall ramps and force players off platforms. As with forts created by the player, the Port-a-Fort shrouds the player in protective walls, helping elevate them above competing players while helping protect them from bullets and grenades.

Fortnite is available now in early access on iOS mobile devices, PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

On April 10th, it was announced via the "New Updates" menu that the fan-favorite "50v'50" game mode will be returning in the future to Fortnite: Battle Royale with a collection of new improvements. Epic Games tends to release a brief trailer or image before the item actually comes out so that might be the case here when the item is closer to release.

The Port-a-Fort item isn't in the game yet, so we don't know how it will change things. Something we are still waiting on is the inclusion of the Jet Pack which was introduced a while back but has since been delayed to work on issues with it.
