ABC renews 'Roseanne' - what took so long?

Roseanne fans rejoice! The revival is set to extend its run on television with ABC quickly renewing the show for a second season.

ABC Entertainment president Channing Dungey said about the incredible support the show received, 'We're thrilled that America has welcomed the Conner family back into their homes.

TMZ did some digging, and we found out the Conners' couch went to a production warehouse after the show went off the air in 1997. and it remained there for years until a show honcho bought it.

-"Roseanne" gave ABC its highest ratings for a scripted program this year, and second among all scripted series to NBC's "This Is Us" following the Super Bowl (26.97 million viewers), Variety said.

After President Donald Trump telephoned her personally to offer his congratulations for her sitcom's stellar ratings, Roseanne Barr is returning the favor by defending Trump in a series of freaky tweets posted Friday (March 30).

President Trump personally called Barr to congratulate her after the premiere drew more than 18 million viewers. I've known him for many years. When recounting the conversation during his OH rally on Thursday, the president said he learned of the news from former Apprentice producer Mark Burnett, who told Trump about the show striking a chord: "It was about us!" .

Will & Grace, about a gay lawyer and his three friends, also proved a hit, although the September 2017 premiere attracted just 10.2 million American viewers. "And it was about us!".

In a Friday appearance on "Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen", Gilbert clarified a question on the show's politics by stating the whole Conner family does not support Trump ― just Roseanne.

Barr's tweet was initially me with widespread confusion, with New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman tweeting simply, "What?"

"Some reviews I've been reading that Rosanne is attempting to bridge the gap in this country thru comedy are interesting ... but I'm sorry, anyone who voted for A WALL is not trying to BRIDGE anything", she tweeted. They did not say if Trump had watched the show.

Barr said Trump was happy for her. It's actually a Hollywood fantasy of what Trump voters are: "people who agree with Hollywood elites on values, but just disagree on economics because they're old white factory workers".

"Roseanne on Jimmy Kimmel about Trump: 'let's try to think positive.' Well, actions speak louder".

Up until Election Day in 2016, "we had spent a lot of time looking for diverse voices in terms of people of color and people from different religions and even people with a different perspective on gender", Dungey told The Times.
