Vikings express interest in free-agent quarterback Drew Brees

The biggest question of the National Football League off-season appears to be settled with ESPN reporting that Kirk Cousins plans to sign for the Minnesota Vikings on a three-year deal worth $84m later this week.

The news comes as a relief to Saints fans who were waiting for news as the free agency period crept closer. Brees will be guaranteed $27 million once the deal becomes official.

KLFY will update this report as it develops.

As reported by ESPN, one of the very first teams to reach out to Drew Brees is the one that knocked his Saints out of the playoffs.

The Saints are pushing their chips to the center with Brees and Payton once again in 2018.

That may be less than Brees could have made with another team or if he'd fully pressed his leverage, but Brees said that wasn't his top priority. "That's the outlook I'm taking, and I think that's the outlook that our entire team is taking".

"I love my agent".

According to a source, at least one other team was willing to give Brees $60 million guaranteed over two years to pry him away from the Saints. "But in most cases when my agent would begin to open his mouth about another team, I would not even let him finish the sentence".

Brees met with Saints management while in the building for Zach Strief's retirement.

However, Brees wants to stay in New Orleans.

The Saints will hope 2017 was not an aberration as they move forward with Brees under center.

He has passed for more than 5,000 yards in a season five times, most recently in 2016.

Now it looks like he can do both at the same time.
