Porter, who has been sidelined since the first game of the season against Iowa State, won't start and Martin stated that he would be "surprised" if the projected National Basketball Association lottery player plays more than 30 minutes.

Coach Cuonzo Martin said Porter would not start the game, but he'd be used off the bench. "I feel good about it'".

"I think he will play tomorrow", Martin said. I don't have it in my head to say, 'He's going to play this many minutes, and that's it.' ...

A few minutes before, when three Missouri players took the podium, it did not sound like they knew Porter was planning to play.

Mizzou plays the victor of Wednesday's Georgia/Vanderbilt game in St. Louis.

"If he's healthy, we're rolling".

Porter underwent on his back shortly thereafter, and was expected to miss the remainder of the season.

Porter's return to the floor on Thursday will come in the second game of the afternoon session.

"Unless Mike says otherwise, that's what it is", Martin said.

Porter Jr., is a five-star recruit and potential No. 1 overall pick in this year's National Basketball Association draft.

Porter was medically cleared in February and has practiced with the team sporadically since. The star freshman's injury was viewed as a major blow to Mizzou's NCAA tournament aspirations but the team excelled in Porter's absence, finishing the regular season at 20-11.
