Attorney Representing Trump in Russia Probe Resigns

On Thursday, John Dowd, Trump's personal attorney and his lead lawyer on the Russian Federation inquiry, resigned.

Mr Dowd's departure comes three days after the Trump legal team added a new lawyer, former U.S. attorney Joseph diGenova.

'Yes, ' said Trump when asked if he would like to give his side of the story. "Office of Professional Responsibility and Attorney General Jeff Sessions and bring an end to alleged Russian Federation collusion investigation manufactured by McCabe's boss James Comey based upon a fraudulent and corrupt dossier", Dowd wrote. The Times reported that Trump is seeking to take a more confrontational approach to the investigation, and that Dowd felt the president was ignoring his advice.

Trump, who has discounted recent reports of turbulence in his legal team as "fake news", added conspiracy theorist and longtime Washington D.C. lawyer Joseph diGenova to his legal team. Comey's firing reportedly is a subject of interest to the special counsel's team.

Jay Sekulow, a Trump lawyer and spokesman for the legal team, declined to comment.

Dowd had spearheaded the president's defense against the ongoing special counsel investigation since the summer, taking over for NY attorney Marc Kasowitz.

Increasingly, the probe has focused on Trump, his family and close aides and advisors, many of whom have been interviewed by Mueller's powerful team of lawyers and investigators.

Over the weekend, Mr Dowd issued a statement calling for an end to special counsel's investigation. "I think President Trump was right when he said there never should have been a Special Council appointed because there was no probable cause for believing that there was any crime, collusion or otherwise, or obstruction of justice.' So stated by Harvard Law Professor Alan Dershowitz", Trump tweeted. "I am very thankful for the service of General H R McMaster who has done an outstanding job & will always remain my friend", Trump said.

Dowd's departure comes as the President has made clear he is seeking a more aggressive response to Mueller's investigation.

This is at least the second major reshuffling of Trump's legal team in the a year ago.

All three have defended the president in the media and gone after the Federal Bureau of Investigation and DOJ for bias against Trump.

Dowd confirmed his departure to multiple media outlets.

Dowd's resignation is just one part of a broader legal-team shakeup Trump is said to be considering.
