Apple sends invites to March 27 event, new iPads incoming?

As usual, the invitation was thin on details - Apple is notoriously silent about future products and programs.

Apple has begun sending invitations to members of the media to attend its upcoming March 27 event.

It looks like Apple will have a first-quarter announcement after all.

Previous rumors pointed to a March release for a pair of new iPads, while another rumor suggested Apple is planning on an iPad that's even more-affordable than the $329 one available today.

It's unclear what products will be shown off at the event and the invite doesn't give us much to go on.

The field of computer science and programming continues to be extremely male-dominated, and by pouring money into initiatives focused on women, Apple may start to make a dent in that disparity by chipping away at it a little at a time.

This education event will be the next Apple event ahead of the Worlwide Developer Conference in San Jose from June 4-8 at the McEnery Convention Center. The Apple iPad devices also feature Swift Playgrounds, which acts as a code education platform.
