Paladins: Battlegrounds is being touted as the first hero shooter to be a part of the growing battle royale genre.

The game is based on Hi-Rez's previous title, Paladins, which in many ways is similar to Overwatch: the characters are similar, the setting is similar and the gameplay is similar. Just like Playerunknown's Battlegrounds, 100 players will drop onto a "massive map" to "explore, loot, and survive" in a fight to be the last Champion - or team of Champions - standing.

In this Battlegrounds mode players find themselves among 99 other players within one giant map that'll gradually become smaller due to a mysterious fog, which swallows everything that gets in its way. Feline fans will be happy to learn about the new mount type, Battle Cats; the first one is the Primal Prowler and will be exclusively available for free to Twitch Prime subscribers. Players can play team deathmatch on the Trade District map, and this mode will be made available on January 10th.

Paladins isn't the first game to copy-pasta PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, which previous year, took over the world of PC gaming. It will be released sometime in 2018 for PC and consoles.

As with everything else in the game, this mode will be a free addition that is supported by microtransactions.

Team Deathmatch is exactly what it sounds like: a mode where your only objective is killing enemy heroes.

The update will include a new champion, Moji.

A new hero is also on the way: Moji, a Flank hero who rides a two-headed dragon.

Besides the announcement of new game modes to Paladins, you can also expect a new hero to be added to the game.
