Mariah Carey got her redemption with a fabulous New Year's Eve performance

"I just want to take a sip of tea if they'll let me - they told me there would be tea", she told the crowd. "I'm going to be like everybody else with no hot tea". Thank you for acknowledging the freezing cold weather and the necessity for hot tea!

"Oh, I'm feeling a lot better than past year, when I had to get my own police escort to walk away", she said, after Seacrest asked how she was feeling.

Last year Carey stopped singing after it appeared there was trouble with the sound set up.

"Happy new year", she said.

When it seemed, there was no tea to be found she continued: "Oh this is a disaster, well we're just going to have to rough it".

And while her actual performance was a triumph, the singer couldn't help but draw attention to one missing ingredient: her hot tea.

Mariah Carey performs during New Year's eve celebrations in Times Square in New York City, New York, U.S., December 31, 2017.

In 2016 Carey received criticism over the controversial performance on Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest. The five-time Grammy victor gave her all as she sang her hit songs, "Hero" and "Vision of Love". The singer's performance issues were evident from the start, as she claimed she was unable to hear the music she was suppose to sing along with. "She was ready to play", a source tells Us Weekly exclusively. Luckily, Mariah was just kidding and went on to deliver stellar renditions of her singles, "Vision of Love", and "Hero". In sub-zero wind chill, who could blame her?

Despite not having her much needed hot tea before the performance, Mariah gave a stellar show.

Mariah Carey is back on form.
