Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have finally revealed the name of their third child.

Chicago was born on Monday (15 January) weighing 7lbs 6oz and Kim who was in the delivery room was reportedly the first person to have skin-to-skin contact with her, The Sun reports.

Followed by four heart eye emojis, Khloe showed her approval of the name choice while also confirming that the nickname of the newest member of the Kardashian's expanding empire will be Chi, identical to the fond moniker of the famous IL city. She and West have two other children: Four-year-old daughter North and 2-year-old son Saint.

Kardashian West said that not carrying the child herself was "so hard", but that the couple had an instant connection with her. Chicago may seem random, but it actually has a lot of meaning for the Kardashian-Wests.

Kardashian posted their daughter's name on Twitter with a simple tweet that read, "Chicago West".

The reality star, 37, announced the name on her app, simply sharing a picture of the name followed by her birth date and weight.

As Kim explained on "The Ellen De Genres Show" prior to the baby's birth, "We don't have a name".

It turns out that Chicago is a pretty unusual name for a baby, which may please Kim and Kanye, who like to think of themselves as always being ahead of the curve on matters of popular culture.

At that time, the couple said it was "incredibly grateful to our surrogate who made our dreams come true", Kardashian West says.

She added, "The nickname Chi is soft, feminine, and cute".

It was reported back in June 2017 that the pair had hired a surrogate to give birth to their third child, after doctors warned of potential health risks if Kim carried her own child. It's not for everyone, but I absolutely love my gestational carrier and this was the best experience I've ever had.
