Ford F-150: What Will Diesel Model Offer?

A diesel version of the Ford's best-selling F-150 truck is to go on sale in the United States this spring, the firm announced today.

It's the sixth engine available in the 2018 Ford F-150 in addition to four V-6 engine options and one V-8.

The engine should appeal to frequent towers and long-haul drivers with improved capacity and range. Peak torque arrives at just 1,750 rpm, with the V6 sharing the same compacted-graphite iron block material construction and forged-steel crank used in the 2.7 litre EcoBoost engine.

WIth a new diesel under the hood, the 2018 F-150 diesel offers a towing capacity of 11,400 pounds, a payload capacity of 2,020 pounds and a projected EPA-estimated rating of 30 miles per hour highway.

We were not sure if the Ford F-150 truck was going to be offered with a diesel engine or not but Ford finally gave us the answer we have all been waiting for by releasing the specs of their 2018 Ford F-150 Diesel model.

Diesel also is an option on rival Ram and Nissan full-size trucks, which means Ford is playing some catch up in that size class, though its F-150 is the nation's best-selling vehicle.

Specific to the diesel engine, a 5.4-gallon DEF tank has been added which Ford says should last 10,000 miles before refilling.

The company has announced that it will begin to take orders for the new Ford f-150 in mid-January, with delivers expected to begin in the Spring of 2018.

The 3.0-liter Power Stroke turbo diesel makes 250 hp and 440 lb-ft of torque.

In more moderate driving and towing conditions, the F-150 engine control system backs off the fan load through a viscous coupler, closing down the two radiator shutters for improved aerodynamic efficiency and reduced parasitic engine loss.

The XL model will be available at starting price of $27,610, XLT at $33,205, Lariat at $40,920, and Raptor starting at $50,020.

The F-150 diesels will offer a choice of rear- or 4-wheel drive.

U.S. automaker giant Ford has announced that it will be launching a diesel version of its F-150 pickup truck, one of its most successful models.

Ford dealers will begin taking orders for F-150s with the 3.0L diesel in about a week, with deliveries slated to begin this spring.
