Feces-Smearing Passenger Forces Flight To Divert To Alaska, Reports Say

More specifically, officials said the man had dirtied "a couple" of lavatories on the plane and had also tried to cram his shirt down a toilet, reported The Washington Post.

United Flight 895 was diverted to Anchorage on Thursday night, according to CBS affiliate KTVA, and police officials at Ted Stevens International Airport said the landing was due to a "passenger smearing feces everywhere".

Anchorage Airport Police Lieutenant Joe Gamache said: 'We received a report of a passenger who had messed up the bathrooms with his own faeces'.

The United Airlines flight from Chicago to Hong Kong was diverted to Alaska after the flight crew reported a man on board had vandalised areas of the plane.

Lt. Holler said the man did not try to interfere with the flight crew, and was cooperative when questioned by airport police officers and the F.B.I.

In a statement, United said the unlucky passengers were put up in hotels and that the airline would be working to get them to their destinations as soon as possible.

According to airport police, the alleged bathroom-destroyer cooperated with United Airlines staff and was escorted into police custody.

The disruptive passenger was taken to Alaska Regional Hospital in Anchorage for a psychological evaluation but was not charged for leaving his crap behind. This is not the first time a flight had made an emergency landing for a weird reason.

The passenger was met by Federal Bureau of Investigation agents and Airport Police at the plane and was interviewed by both entities.
