Everton's Ross Barkley set to join Antonio Conte's Chelsea for £15 million

Chelsea are closing in on a £15million deal for Everton midfielder Ross Barkley and could confirm the move before the weekend, according to reports. The midfielder will have a medical at the club on Friday and will complete the move from his boyhood club Everton in the coming days.

Barkley, 24, has not featured for Everton this season as he recovers from a long-term hamstring injury, but the Merseyside club began to plan for life without him last summer by signing Wayne Rooney, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Davy Klaassen.

Barkley turned down a move to Chelsea on transfer deadline day in August.

Everton manager Sam Allardyce has revealed that his club are expecting to receive a bid for Ross Barkley this month and concedes that they are destined to lose the England worldwide.

Tottenham have been monitoring Barkley's situation but Sky Sports suggest the North Londoners have chose to end their interest with Mauricio Pochettino now looking at alternative targets.

This had left speculation surrounding the north Londoners' interest in Barkley, with the possibility of themselves and the current Premier League champions going up against one another in order to secure the attacker.

They would also argue that with Barkley out of the side this season, his absence has not hampered their performances - particularly since Allardyce took over from Koeman.

Barkley's exit will bring an end to his association with Everton, the club he joined as an 11-year-old and represented more than 150 times.
