Stories Might Become a Part of YouTube Soon

In the Community section, creators can share polls, pictures, text, GIFs and other content which are created to let channels feed their fans new content on YouTube itself, instead of other social media platforms in the period between major video uploads.

YouTube will experiment with a beta version of Reels with a limited number of users before "expanding to more creators", added Livne.

The new feature is part of YouTube's bid to allow creators to connect with their fans on a more intimate level with YouTube Community, where creators can post updates and other snippets between uploads.

In a blog post aimed at YouTube creators, Roy Livne, senior product manager, said: "We want to do even more to give you easy ways to express yourself and engage with fans, so today we're also unveiling a new feature".

It is important to note that YouTube's Reels will be different than traditional Stories. YouTube would also allow the users to have more than one Reels-each including its own set of videos. YouTube's take on the feature with Reels is a way to let creators - and potentially publishers down the road - produce similar short-form videos within its own service instead of people jumping ship for other apps that already offer it. Creators can also turn to the Community tab to tease subscribers about an upcoming video so that they might build additional excitement for their offerings. Unlike other platforms, Reels would be capped to 30 seconds and will not expire after 24 hours. Currently, Reels is being tested in a small group of the creators and the company hasn't revealed any date for its final roll out. Creators can add music, filters and stickers to it. Reels will appear in a separate tab so creators always have an option to ignore them if they want to.

YouTube is always touted as being about the community. "Reels" come few days after the arrival of the "pinch-to-zoom" feature in YouTube. Users will also have the opportunity to evaluate the Reels, putting them huskies or dslan.
