Netflix announces 3rd season of Stranger Things

Netflix has officially renewed Stranger Things for a third season because, as pretty much everyone agrees, the company would be insane not to. But it's still great to have the next season set in stone, even if we know very little about where it's headed.

A third season of Stranger Things is officially on the way.

Season two, which Netflix released October 27, played off similar themes as the first season and has also received positive reviews.

The first season proved to a be a big hit after receiving 18 Emmy nominations, and winning five those.

Winona Ryder stars in the series, leading a cast of relative unknowns and playing the mother of the disappeared boy.

Season 2 focuses on the town's struggle to return to normal after a serious of sensational happenings. The hit show returned this year and an estimated 15.8 million people tuned into to the premiere of season 2 within the first three days of its release.

The creators, Matt and Ross Duffer told E! It provides certain challenges. It forces you to do a time jump. I bet you never saw that coming. Instead, as Matt explained, the show will just evolve and change with the kids. That's what I'm excited about.

And those claims proved to be true, as the streaming service confirmed today that we'll get to see more from our favourite sci-fi show.
