Netflix, who produces the popular "House of Cards" series starring the disgraced Spacey, has unceremoniously given him the ax following allegations of sexual assault of minors levied against the actor. One employee alleged he was sexually assaulted by Spacey.

Filming for the sixth and final season of House of Cards was put on indefinite hold October 31-two days after BuzzFeed published an in-depth interview with Anthony Rapp, who alleged that Spacey had made sexual advances toward him when the Rent star was 14. He asked that CNN refrain from describing what happened next in the vehicle, so as protect his identity. It was then that Spacey, who was driving, placed his hands on the assistant, telling CNN it was nonconsensual. When the pair arrived at the set, however, the production assistant helped Spacey carry belongings from his auto to his trailer, where Spacey cornered him and "made inappropriate contact with him". The man said: "I told him, 'I don't think I'm ok with this, I don't think I'm comfortable with this". "I have no doubt that this type of predatory behavior was routine for him and that my experience was one of many and that Kevin had few if any qualms about exploiting his status and position", he told CNN.

"A number of other employees also claimed that Spacey created a toxic workplace environment with his disturbing pattern of sexual harassment".

British police confirmed Friday that they had opened an investigation into an allegation of sexual assault from a man in 2008, although officers never identify the subject of an inquiry unless and until they are charged. He claimed that "everybody saw", and that crew members often commented on Spacey's behaviour, but didn't complain out of fear of losing their jobs.

Netflix bosses are now working with House of Cards production company officials at Media Rights Capital to determine what to do with the show, but those close to the drama fear the series might now be axed for good.

It previously announced setting up an email address where "anyone" with concerns about "inappropriate behavior" by Spacey can come forward.

The streaming service has also reportedly scrapped the Gore Vidal biopic "Gore", which stars and is produced by Spacey.
