India vs NZ 2nd T20I

Rajkot: India captain Virat Kohli rued a poor batting effort by his team mates after a 40-run defeat to New Zealand (NZ) in the second Twenty20 global (T20I) here on Saturday.

Munro slammed 109 from 58 balls at the top of the order, with seven fours and seven sixes to lead his side to 196 for two batting first.

Colin Munro swatted India's bowlers everywhere for 109 not out, before Trent Boult's early wickets spurred the Black Caps to a 40-run victory.

Having snapped the Twenty20 global jinx against New Zealand with the opening match win in New Delhi, India will now aim to clinch the three-match series whereas the Black Caps will try to keep it alive.

"The way I bat is the same every time, whether I'm chasing 200 or 120. There's going to be a lot of fours and sixes" - Sunil Gavaskar. The Black Caps' new ball attack of Trent Boult and Tim Southee lacked discipline in Delhi.

We look at the two good and bad performances from the match after the Kiwis stormed right back into the series.

India (Playing XI): Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli (c), MS Dhoni (w), Shreyas Iyer, Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah, Yuzvendra Chahal, Mohammed Siraj.

The star batsman finally fell to Mitchell Santner's left-arm spin and with him India's hopes faded away. "Guptill and Bruce gave good support and the bowlers did really well to defend it", said Williamson after the match. "The ball got scuffed up [to help it turn]".

Later, captain Williamson became the victim of the debutant and his Sunrisers Hyderabad teammate Mohammed Siraj to give the fast bowler his first worldwide wicket.

Munro hit seven massive sixes and the same amount of boundaries as brought up his second T20I ton in only 54 deliveries, bettering his 56-ball century against Bangladesh. "We didn't take our chances, yes, but at once stage they were looking to get 235-240 and credit to Bumrah and Bhuvi to pull things back", Kohli further added.
