Facebook Launches Food Ordering Feature

The company says Facebook will also show you what your friends have to say about a restaurant before you make your order. Browse for food options and select "Start Order" for takeout or delivery services.

Facebook Monday officially announced a new feature that allows its U.S. users to order food from local restaurants. The "Order Food" feature has been tested by the tech company over the previous year; and they have decided that it is ready to be used for real, starting from just this previous weekend. It has been seen over some months that the social media giant has been chipping away at finding new ways to keep users as much time as possible on the platform.

The list of national restaurants covers Papa John's, Wingstop, Panera, Jack in the Box, TGI Friday's, Denny's, EL Pollo Loco, Chipotle, Five Guys and Jimmy John's alongside local eateries. If a restaurant works with multiple delivery services, customers can select the service they prefer. You can order food for pick-up or delivery directly on Facebook.

Most people who order food already have accounts set up with individual restaurants and delivery apps, however. You can message the restaurants using the desktop version.

Do you find that you get hungry while reading through the News Feed on Facebook? These facilities are now connected to Facebook in both its original website as well as the mobile app versions of Android and iOS. Other countries might have to wait for some time to get the service or Facebook might keep it USA exclusive.
