The company rolled out an updated variant with Kaby Lake chipsets and a fingerprint scanner, and Xiaomi is now setting its sights on the MacBook Pro with its latest laptop, the Mi Notebook Pro. In fact the Mi Notebook Pro starts at only $850 which is less than half of what Apple is offering. That aside, it sports a minimalist design that looks like machined metal, though we can't say for sure. All come with a 15.6-inch display with a resolution of 1,920 by 1,080, which, based on my experience, is not an ideal configuration. The laptop weighs around 1.95 kg - and there's only one colour option available - dark gray. Many users get Xiaomi's products that way, often skirting import fees through longer shipping methods (or you can pay a bit more for faster shipping).

Xiaomi entered the notebook market with its Mi Notebook Air to target Apple's MacBook lineup with a cheaper Windows 10 alternative.

The Notebook 2x USB 3.0, a full HDMI port, a 3 in 1 SD card reader and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The company wants to cater to the Chinese and Indian audience by bringing in a laptop that would openly compete Apple's own Macbook Pro. A 3.5 mm Audiojack is also equipped at the side. Each key is evenly spaced out and is also backlit.

256GB SSD (PCIe) with a dedicated slot for SSD expansion. This essentially means that the laptop comes with support for Windows Hello.

Other specifications on the Xiaomi Mi Notebook Pro include a fingerprint sensor built into the notebooks touch pad. The laptop with Intel Core i7 with 16GB RAM is priced at CNY 6,999. Gone are the days where you would have to rely on just two cores because Intel's latest lineup gives you command at 4 cores and 8 threads. This new keyboard is 19% larger than the original MacBook Pro. Like the Mi Notebook Air, which initially was only available in China, a similar approach towards the Mi Notebook Pro is expected. There's a Core i7 (8th Gen) model clocked up to 4GHz along with 16GB of RAM, another Core i7 model but with a smaller 8GB RAM module and finally a less powerful Core i5 variant with 8GB RAM.
