Renato Sanches: I joined Swansea because of Clement

Portugal midfielder Sanches is set to make his Swansea debut against Newcastle on Sunday after completing a shock season-long loan move from Bayern Munich. In some situations it looked like it would be hard to do it, then it got nearer and then it got further again but I was delighted to get it over the line.

He struggled for minutes during his first season under Carlo Ancelotti and has joined Swansea City on loan for the rest of the season.

The club announced his re-signing with a video on social media of the striker singing Swansea fans' iconic chant for him, which manager Paul Clement admitted he "couldn't get out of my head". I will just leave that problem with the justice.

There were offers from France and Turkey to resurrect his career, but Bony said his mind was made by his two sons who are both Swansea supporters.

Clement has, however, been given some good news about who he can select for their fixture with Newcastle, after Jordan Ayew was cleared to be involved.

"He's a fantastic player and I think he will be one of the most exciting players in the league". I crossed my fingers for them in the last five games.

Recalling his period in City, where he moved in 2015, bony said, "I had good moments there". "They heard about the interest and said "Daddy you have to go back to Swansea".

"So I'm very happy that he's here and hopefully in the future some of those links that I have will be positive as well".

He added: "There were other options - Lille, Fenerbahce and others - but most important was what my family said".
