Two elderly residents were found dead at the nursing home, and four later died at a hospital.

In addition, at least five people died and more than a dozen were treated after breathing carbon monoxide fumes from generators in the Orlando, Miami and Daytona Beach areas. Sharief, the Broward County mayor, has said the number was closer to 45 percent of traffic signals there.

Officials said 115 patients were evacuated from the Rehabilitation Center at Hollywood Hills early Wednesday are in the process of evacuating another 18 patients from a nearby behavioral facility next door.

Gusts topping 90 miles per hour whipped Miami on Sunday, knocking out power to most of the city's residents. She said there were 2,840 crews working throughout the county.

Hollywood is located in southeast Florida between Miami and Fort Lauderdale.
