Pre-Ordering the iPad Pro? Best Buy Has the Best Deal

Fortunately for the macOS faithful, Apple delivered with three new mainline iMacs, all available for order right now.

If you own a 2015 iMac, the answer is more nuanced, but if your machine is pre-2015, get yourself some modern hardware.

WWDC 2017 may not have been the most exciting keynote we've ever seen, but for any consumers who has been patiently waiting for a solid improvement to the Mac, Monday's keynote was nothing short of encouraging.

There were reports the new iPad would ditch the home button and there were also reports of a bezel-free device, aside from the top of the display where the FaceTime camera sits but alas, not this time.

The new model measures 250.6 x 174.1 x 6.1mm and it weighs 469g or 477g, depending on whether you opt for the Wi-Fi only model, or the Wi-Fi and LTE option.

The Radeon Pro 500 series starts with the Radeon Pro 555, with its 12 compute units and 768 stream processors, 81GB/s of memory bandwidth, and offers a 1.3 T/FLOPS peak performance. The Intel's Iris Plus Graphics 540 and 550 have been replaced with the Intel's Iris Plus Graphic 640 and 650. The 27-inch 5K Retina iMac performs well, even at standard spec - and it does it quietly too, suggesting the new Intel chips rub cool.

To some degree this is due to Intel-based computers becoming powerful enough to cope with most software out there a few years back: even if your box is two to four years old, it'll work just fine in the vast majority of cases nowadays.

Starting at US$4,999, the iMac Pro will be configurable with up to 128GB of RAM and as much as 4TB of silicon-based storage, while the Xeon processor can contain as many as 18 cores. However, the 2015 model already included discrete graphics in the form of an AMD Radeon R9 M290 card.

The announcement was made at that the tech giant holds each year.

One significant addition to the Apple family is the new iMac Pro, an all-in-one behemoth set to start shipping in December that the company is aiming specifically at enterprise users running enormous workloads.

With the addition of Thunderbolt 3, a superior display, and much better processors and graphics, the new 27-inch is very much a souped-up version of the 2015 model.

However, you don't have to decide just yet. If you prefer the new 12.9-inch iPad Pro, you'll get a larger $50 gift card.
