Miles Teller arrested for public drunkenness in San Diego

On Monday, PEOPLE reported that the Whiplash star had been arrested on Sunday morning in San Diego for public intoxication.

Miles Teller was arrested in San Diego, California, on Sunday, June 18, Us Weekly can confirm.

"Upon contact the officer noticed that Teller was 'swaying side to side, had slurred speech and bloodshot eyes.' At one point, Teller lost his balance and nearly fell into the street where there was traffic", the spokesperson mentioned.

After it was determined that the 30-year-old actor was "unable to care for his own safety", the spokesperson said, he was taken into custody.

The report revealed Teller was initially taken to a detox center and not the police station. The cop offered to take Miles there, but he allegedly refused.

Teller was transported to a detox facility, where he had the opportunity to dry out for four hours. It was then that he was formally arrested for public intoxication, which is a misdemeanor.

"I and @keleighperry are ok". The other driver pulled into oncoming traffic, and the bad accident was unavoidable. "This woman's irrational and ignorant decision put our lives and her passengers in very real danger". He was able to walk away from the crash without injury.

Following the news, Teller shared his side of the story on social media.
