Kent State University football player dies after Tuesday practice session

Tyler was recruited as a rising star on the team's offensive line. He committed to the Kent State Golden Flashes back in February.

Heintz recently graduated from Kenton High School. Pray for his family.

Fackler made time to talk with his high school players about Heintz's death as they gathered for a weightlifting workout Wednesday morning.

The Portage County Coroner told the Record-Courier that Heintz was pronounced dead at 11:34 a.m. local time after being transported to a hospital by the Kent Fire Department.

According to the school's release, Heintz planned on studying marketing and entrepreneurship in Kent State's college of business administration.

Tuesday was the second day of workouts.

The Portage County Coroner's Office in OH told the Cleveland Plain-Dealer that it was too soon to determine the cause of Heintz's death and that it could take several weeks to learn the answer.

The coroners office said it was too soon to determine a cause of death. He said his investigators still are following up with questions and interviews, following the result of the autopsy performed by the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office.

"The post-mortem is just one piece of the puzzle", DePerro said, adding that medical staff at the hospital worked to revive Heintz for two hours "without success".

The oldest daughter in a triple homicide in North Royalton was also a Kent State University student. Life is way too short.
