Katy Perry makes Twitter history with 100 million followers

The "Chained to the Rhythm" singer just hit 100 million followers on Twitter-earning herself a place in Twitter history.

The milestone moves Perry's Twitter following past Justin Bieber's 96.7 million followers and Barack Obama's 90.8 million and comes just days after the release of her most recent album, "Witness", Billboard noted.

The second most-followed Twitter account belongs to Justin Bieber, who now has 96.7 million followers.

Singer Justin Bieber is not far behind with nearly 97 million followers. She's followed closely behind by Justin Bieber, who now has 96.7 million followers, Barack Obama (90.8 million), Taylor Swift (85.1 million) and Rihanna (74.1 million).

To celebrate Katy's achievement, Twitter posted a video on their own official account of some of Katy's greatest tweets over the years.

Katy joined Twitter in 2009 and has been an active user since then.

The Twitter record isn't Katy's only social media record, either.

According to a new report, Swift is focused on her family, her love life, and her career, but for some reason, possibly related to album sales, Perry can't seem to let the drama between them subside. Perry's 18 month Witness tour kicks off in the fall. She even had a live therapy session.

JokesIt's no secret why Perry has amassed a 100 million Twitter followers: She's hilarious.
