BCCI Announce Squad For The Tour Of West Indies

The duo have been rewarded for their excellent showing on the domestic circuit, including impressive displays in the Indian Premier League Twenty20 tournament.

The team for the Caribbean tour includes youngster like Rishabh Pant and Kuldeep Yadav while Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah is a notable omission and the reason for that is still not clear as the duo is having a decent Champions Trophy.

Stumper-batsman Rishabh Pant and left-arm wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav were named in India's limited-overs squad on Thursday for the team's tour of West Indies later this month. Kumble is one of the candidates in contention, after the BCCI invited applications for the job amid reports that Virat Kohli and some senior players were unhappy with Kumble's methods. While Pant scored 366 runs from 14 games at a strike rate of 165.61, Kuldeep grabbed 12 wickets in 12 matches.

Interestingly, India's opener Rohit Sharma, who made a comeback to worldwide cricket in the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy 2017 after a long break, has not been included in the squad. But a bigger surprise was lack of clarity on the status of Anil Kumble.

Even while selecting the team for the ongoing Champions Trophy, the Indian selectors had deliberated on names of both Rishabh and Kuldeep.

Meanwhile, the BCCI said that the administrative staff of the Indian Team will continue to remain the same for the tour of West Indies. The fast bowling unit looks solid with Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Umesh Yadav, and Mohammed Shami, with Pandya providing backup.
