The base trims for the petrol and diesel cars are LXI and LDI and are offered with manual gearboxes only. "Dzire was specially created for India, and has been one of the most popular brands ever in the Indian automobile industry", according to Kenichi Ayukawa, Managing Director and CEO, Maruti Suzuki. The model has been contributing to around 50 per cent of vehicle sales in the compact sedan segment.

Maruti Suzuki Dzire VS Tata Tigor - Engine Specifications: On the mechanically front, the new Maruti Suzuki Dzire comes with same set of engine options wherein the petrol unit is powered by a 1.2-litre petrol mill and the diesel version gets 1.3-litre DDiS diesel motor.

Maruti spent Rs 1,000 crore to develop the new Dzire, which is much lighter and more fuel efficient.

Its smooth sedan styling, more plush and roomy interiors, superior overall comfort and advanced safety features (details in the box) make the New Dzire even more aspirational - and desirable.

Ayukawa added: "The all-New Dzire has the looks and design of an authentic sedan". The company has said that the response has been strong because of what is on offer.

Maruti Suzuki on Tuesday launched the 2017 Dzire sedan at a starting price of Rs 5.45 lakh (ex showroom, Delhi). While the 1.2-litre petrol motor is tuned to produce 83PS/113Nm, the 1.3-litre diesel generates 75PS/190Nm. The claimed fuel efficiency for the petrol engine is 22 km/l and 28.4 km/l for to the diesel engine. Maruti starts offering the five-speed automated manual gearbox options from this trim onwards.

In terms of features, the 2017 Maruti Suzuki Dzire is a far cry from the outgoing model.

The sedan would be mainly produced at the company's Manesar facility. The new Dzire also gets air conditioning vents at the rear. The rear seats also get ISOFIX child anchorages.

The Z trim (ZXi, ZDi) packs in alloy wheels, leather-wrapped steering, rear parking sensors, fog lamps, rear defogger, keyless go, auto climate control and electric retract wing mirrors.

From the back, the taillights are now LED units and come in a new design.

The all-new Dzire shares the same new HEARTECT platform as those adopted for the all-new Swift, which is being sold in Japan, Europe, and other countries from 2017.
