Lost Sphear Announced: New JRPG From I Am Setsuna Team

Tokyo RPG Factory, the Square Enix studio responsible for I Am Setsuna, has announced its next project.

The game follows a young boy named Kanata who wakes from a nightmare to discover that his remote little hometown has completely vanished. He uses something called the power of Memory to bring thoughts and ideas into reality to restore the world.

Lost Sphear (pronounced Lost Sphere) aims to expand on the features laid out in I Am Setsuna with a "revamped ATB battle system" and "seamless environments". And if you aren't sure you want another game with this structure, let us know what you'd like to see Tokyo RPG Factory working on when development of Lost Sphear is complete. Below is the announcement trailer.

The physical release is now a Square Enix Online Store exclusive for the console versions, starting at £39.99 or $49.99.

Lost Sphear is expected to release on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC in early 2018. Pre-orderers nab themselves two extra music tracks at launch.

LOST SPHEAR is not yet rated. Modernising the classic JRPG formula for modern players.

Lost Sphear will continue the good work of I Am Setsuna by carrying over the game's Chrono Trigger-esque battle system, story structure, and character design.
